Abstract
Arabinose-inducible genetic elements from the Salmonella typhimurium a rabinose operon were inserted into pACYC184. The resultant plasmid, pA R3, is compatible with ColE1-derived plasmids and allows efficient exp ression of recombinant (re) genes upon induction with arabinose. These features make it convenient for use in combination with standard gene expression vectors for the independently controlled production of two or more re-polypeptides in Escherichia coli.
