Abstract
The 5' flanking region and the first 704 bp of the nitrite reductase-e ncoding gene (niiA) of Leptosphaeria maculans has been sequenced. The niiA start codon is 1438 bp downstream from the stop codon of the nitr ate reductase-encoding gene (niaD) and the two genes are transcribed i n the same direction.
