Abstract
Current data from the literature concerning the role of platelets in c ancer metastasis are reviewed. Platelets are shown to be the factor fa cilitating all steps leading to the development of hematogenous metast asis, from initial tumor cell lodgement in the microvasculature to tum or cell interactions with endothelium and subendothelial matrix, extra vasation and proliferation.
