Abstract
Formation process of double-Lambda hypernuclei is investigated on the basis of the idea of a double-Lambda compound nucleus formed in Xi abs orption. The behavior of a hyperon in nuclear medium is studied by cal culating the elastic/conversion widths and the mean free path, and the probabilities of single-Lambda and double-Lambda sticking after the X i N-->Lambda Lambda conversion are discussed. The decay probabilities from a double-Lambda compound nucleus to various fragments are evaluat ed in a statistical treatment.
