Y. Yamamoto et al., FORMATION AND TRANSITION OF STRANGENESS-EQUALS--2 NUCLEAR SYSTEMS, Progress of theoretical physics. Supplement, (117), 1994, pp. 281-306
A scenario is given for the formation of Xi(-) states and the transiti
ons to states with double-Lambda. First, the production cross sections
of Xi hypernuclear states by (K-, K+) reactions on typical two target
s (C-12 and O-16) are calculated within the framework of the distorted
-wave impulse approximation. Next, the transition rates from Xi(-) hpp
ernuclear states to possible double-Lambda states are evaluated, which
are closely related to single- and double-(Lambda emission after Xi(-
) p--> Lambda Lambda conversion in nuclei. The partial conversion widt
hs for the atomic Xi(-) absorption by C-12 and O-16 are also estimated
in the similar way, discussing various possible final states. In orde
r to extract an information on the Xi-N interaction, the cross section
s and Xi state widths are given as a function of the Woods-Saxon well
depth for the Xi particle. The result is discussed in anticipation of
observations in future experiments.
