A REVIEW ON MESONIC DECAY OF LAMBDA-HYPERNUCLEI

A review of the present situation of the mesonic decay of Lambda hyper nuclei is done. The link between the propagator method and the one wit h wave functions and nuclear matrix elements is established. The lack of links between the mesonic decay and the nucleon occupation number i n nuclear matter is also;discussed, as well as the effect of the Lambd a N short range repulsion in the mesonic decay of light hypernuclei. T he relevance of the 2p2h induced Lambda decay channel is also discusse d. Finally an overview of the potential use of the process, when syste matic measurements over the periodic table are done, is presented at t he end.
