Abstract
The Leonardian (Uppermost Lower Permian) Chochal Formation of Guatemal a has yielded 48 species of ostracodes which belong mainly to the Podo copida. These first data from Central America permit the interpretatio n of eustasy and palaeoecology of a well oxygenated carbonate platform far from shore. A significant faunal relationship, at specific level, seems to exist with South China and the Russian Platform.
