Phase transition in C-60-dimethoxymethane and C-60-1-bromobutane clath
rates were studied by X-ray powder diffraction. Both clathrates show p
hase transitions corresponding to orientational ordering. Although the
two high temperature structures have very similar orthorhombic lattic
e the phase transitions take place in different ways. In the C-60-dime
thoxymethane sample there is no symmetry change while in the C-60-1-br
omobutane an orthorhombic to monoclinic transformation of the lattice
can be observed.
