Solutions are given for the decay of the local current in both a finit
e and an infinite superconducting circuit consisting of a linear array
of loops. These give some insight into the behaviour of persistent cu
rrents in superconducting dipole magnets. Generating functions are der
ived for the polynomials associated with the finite chain solutions. T
he solution for the infinite loop model are found from the Green's fun
ction for the free particle Schrodinger equation.
