An amperometric glucose sensor based on a photocurable polyacrylamide
membrane, in which the enzyme glucose oxidase is entrapped, is reporte
d. The enzymatic membrane is deposited on a planar three-microelectrod
e cell by casting and by photolithography patterning. The latter techn
ique allows us to obtain reproducible and thin membranes. The glucose
sensors developed present a sensitivity from 45 to 67 nA mM(-1) glucos
e depending on the membrane thickness and the enzyme concentration in
a linear range of 4x10(-3)-1 mM. Sensors with a 10-15 mu m membrane th
ickness exhibit a short response time of 20-30 s (t(95%)) and a long-t
erm stability of three weeks.
