Abstract
The nucleation and crystal growth rates of 2MgO . B2O3 crystallite in the slag MgO-B2O3-SiO2-Al2O-CaO were calculated with the kinetic equat ion of glass formation, and through that the optimum temperature for 2 MgO . B2O3 crystallization was obtained. The effect of the temperatur e of heat treatment on the efficiency of extractive boron (EEB) from t he slag was investigated by chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). It was found that the highes t EEB occurred at the optimum temperature.
