The control of coccidiosis by maternal immunization represents on impo
rtant potential strategy in the fight against this serious veterinary
health problem. In this short review, Michael Wallach, Nicholas Smith,
Richard Braun and Johannes Eckert present a summary of results obtain
ed in work carried out in several laboratories in Israel and Switzerla
nd on the fundamental aspects of maternal immunity and its implication
s fbr vaccine development against coccidiosis in chickens.
