The control of series resonant converters remains an important axis of
research. A classical frequency control gives often current and volta
ge overshoots which could damage the power semiconductors. The duratio
n of these transient states reduces considerably the converter pass ba
nd. The principle of the presented control consists in the imposition
of an optimal trajectory in the state plane diagram. Thus, the state v
ariables characterising the resonant circuit are perfectly mastered. T
ransient states have a minimal duration, the state variables do not ha
ve overshoots. The high frequency operation of the resonant converter
is a constraint to make a digital control. To reduce the calculation t
ime, the control is made by a control automaton elaborated with an ASI
C (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) using configurable logic c
ircuits.
