Abstract
A controversy has arisen over the existence, or not, of a superdeforme d rotational band in Pb-192. We have carried out an experiment using t he Er-168(Si-30, 6n)Pb-192 reaction at 159 MeV and have observed the c oincident gamma rays in the EUROGAM 2 spectrometer. We confirm the ori ginal result of Henry et al. that a superdeformed band exists in Pb-19 2.
