Mm. Rahman et al., SEASONAL-VARIATIONS IN SOME PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERS OF SESAME (SESAMUM-INDICUM L), Bangladesh journal of botany, 24(1), 1995, pp. 47-51
Some physiological parameters and seed yield and its components of two
varieties of sesame grown in rabi and kharif seasons were evaluated.
Chlorophyll content in leaf, leaf area index (LAI), and crop growth ra
te (CGR) of both the varieties were recorded higher in kharif as compa
red to rabi. The higher seed yield in kharif was associated with incre
ased number of capsules per plant, bigger capsule size, higher seed we
ight per plant and also higher harvest index. In kharif, the higher se
ed yield influenced through higher CGR, LAI, chlorophyll content and p
revailing higher solar radiation as well as higher air and soil temper
ature.
