D. Scigocki, A HIGH ANGULAR AND HIGH-ENERGY RESOLUTION GAMMA-RAY TELESCOPE FOR OBSERVATIONS BETWEEN 1 GEV AND 1 TEV, Nuclear physics. B, 1995, pp. 249-252
We propose a compact gamma ray telescope to explore the 1 GeV to 1 TeV
energy band with both high angular and high energy resolution. This t
elescope would use drift chambers to measure the direction of the cosm
ic gamma rays with high accuracy and a calorimeter made of dense inorg
anic scintillator layers (BaF2 or CsI(TI)) coupled to photosensitive g
aseous detectors. It would reach an angular resolution of 5-10 arcminu
tes and an energy resolution of about 1.0-2.5%.
