THE EMPIRICS OF GROWTH AND CONVERGENCE - A SELECTIVE REVIEW

This paper contains a selective survey of the empirical literature on growth and convergence. After reviewing some stylized facts and develo ping a framework for empirical analysis, I focus on recent contributio ns based on various extensions of the neoclassical growth model. I sum marize the main results of this literature, examine their implications , and discuss some of the questions which are left open by existing wo rk.
