Abstract
Palladium-complex-catalysed double carbonylation affording alpha-keto acid derivatives is a novel reaction discovered recently in organotran sition metal chemistry. In this paper, an inorganic polymer-palladium complex, silica-supported polytitazane-palladium complex (Ti-N-Pd) was prepared and used to catalyse the double carbonylation of phenyl hali de. It was found that this kind of catalyst has great activity and sel ectivity in the reaction. Reactivity of phenyl halide decreased in the order of PhI > PhBr > PhCl. This inorganic polymer complex was also v ery stable during the reaction.
