Sexual, seasonal, and age-related differences have been analyzed in th
e morphology and frequency oi. certain behavioral forms in the Europea
n lynx in captivity, which are traditionally described as marking beha
vior. Their role in distant communication is discussed. The marking of
various objects by urine in the wild and in captivity is considered.
