Abstract
Allen's (1984) optical spectra of symbiotic stars were used in order t o derive some elemental ratios and Be abundances. The studied systems were those for which spectrophotometry was available in his catalogue, i.e. LMC S63, Y Cra, SS 29, He2-104, SS 38, He2-106, V455 Sco, He2-12 7, He2-171, AE Ara, SS 122 and Hen 1242 (=KX TrA). Estimates for the t emperature and luminosity of the hot components are given. UV spectra taken with the IUE satellite were also used for the propose of abundan ce and temperature determination. The study shows that the analyzed sy stems have abundance ratios given by He/H, Ar/O, Ne/O, N/O and Fe/Ne a nd temperature and luminosities typical for other symbiotic systems. F or one symbiotic system, SS 29, oxygen is underabundant. The symbiotic stars H1-36, Alien (1983) and CL Sco Blair et al. (1983) were also in cluded in this work.
