Cs. Verbeke et Cc. Heubner, SIDEROELASTOSIS PULMONUM - CAUSE OR CONSEQUENCE OF THE PULMONARY VENOOCCLUSIVE DISEASE, Respiration, 62(3), 1995, pp. 167-170
In a 66-year-old patient morphologic features of a pulmonary veno-occl
usive disease were found. Besides, a striking foreign body giant cell
reaction with phagocytosis of altered elastic tissue in totally or par
tially occluded venous blood vessels resembled the so-called pulmonary
sideroelastosis, an entity originally described by Ceelen. In this ca
se report, a possible pathogenetic relation between sideroelastosis pu
lmonum and pulmonary veno-occlusive disease is discussed.
