Cpr. Nair et P. Chaumont, NEW EFFICIENT METHOD FOR MACROMONOMER SYNTHESIS THROUGH FREE-RADICAL ADDITION-FRAGMENTATION-FUNCTIONALIZATION, Pure and applied chemistry, A32, 1995, pp. 723-731
Pentadiene-functional macromonomers were synthetized by a single step
free radical reactions based on addition-fragmentation-substitution. N
arrow disperse polymers with functionalities near to the theoretical l
imit with and without branched structures could be prepared by either
high-conversion-fractionation method or conversion method. The macromo
nomers copolymerised well with other monomers giving rise to well defi
ned comb-like graft copolymers. The polymerizability of the terminal f
unctions were independent of the molar masses of the macromonomers. Th
e graft copolymers were characterized by spectral, elemental and SEC (
multidetectors) analyses.
