T. Giacomini et al., AIRPORT MALARIA - STUDY OF 6 CASES CONTRA CTED NEAR ROISSY IN 1994 - INDISPENSABLE PREVENTIVE MEASURES, Bulletin de l'Academie nationale de medecine, 179(2), 1995, pp. 335-353
During the very hot 1994 summer, six new cases of airport malaria have
been observed in and around Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport. Four pa
tients were regular or occasionnal airport employees. The two other ca
ses were inhabitants of a city at 7 km. Entomological investigations s
uggest that cars of airport employees served to disseminate anopheline
s outside the airport areas. The six cases were very severe. One patie
nt died. Apparently, W.H.O. recommandations on aircraft disinsecting p
rocedures have not been fully followed. There is obviously a threat fo
r areas near the airports.
