The title structurem HgSeO3, is isomorphous with those of a series of
perovskite-like MSeO(3) compounds and contains corner-sharing HgO6 oct
ahedra, connecting to form a three-dimensional network, and Se4+ ions
in the cavities of the structure. the octahedron is substantially dist
orted with Hg-O bond distances between 2.103 (11) and 2.641 (11) Angst
rom. The geometry of the selenite group deviates significantly form th
ose of the selenites of the isomorphous series.
