Abstract
The title chalcone derivative, C13H9BrOS, has a dihedral angle of 22.3 0 degrees between the 4-bromobenzyl and the thienyl group planes. Ther e is electron conjugation between the central -CH=CH-C(=O)- group and the benzyl and thienyl groups.
