Several oil-in-water submicron emulsions with different amounts of emu
lsifiers were prepared by ultrasonication and their physico-chemical p
roperties examined with the aim of formulating physically stable drug-
loaded emulsions. The properties of submicron O/W emulsions prepared b
y dispersion of sesame oil solutions of mefloquine and two potential l
ipophilic prodrugs in iso-osmotic sorbitol solutions were evaluated be
fore and after autoclaving and also after storage. The physical stabil
ity of the drug-loaded emulsions upon dilution with salt and dextrose
solutions was investigated.
