Abstract
The thermal convection of a second grade fluid is studied within the c ontext of unidirectional flows. Stokes' first problem in finite and in finite domains as well as pulsating Poiseuille flow in a pipe are anal yzed. Due to the special nature of the flow, both the balance of linea r momentum and the energy equation can be solved exactly.
