The functionalised phosphines, 3-aminophenyldiphenylphosphine (3-PNH2)
, phenyl-2-carbaldehydediphenylphosphine (2-PCHO) and phenyl-4-carbald
ehydediphenylphosphine (4-PCHO) react with UV-irradiated tetrahydrofur
an solutions of [M(CO)(6)] (M = Cr, W) to yield complexes of the type
[M(CO)(5)L] (M = Cr, L = 4-PCHO; M=W, L = 3-PNH2, 2-PCHO, 4-PCHO). The
complex [W(CO)(5)(2-PCHO)] has been characterised by the X-ray method
. The crystals are monoclinic with a = 9.734(3), b = 15.172(5), c = 15
.365(3) Angstrom, beta = 94.02(2)degrees, U = 2264(1) Angstrom(3), Z =
4, space group P2(1)/n. The structure was refined to R = 0.019 for 35
70 unique data. The complex contains the phosphine ligand bound to the
tungsten atom in monodentate fashion via the phosphorus (W-P 2.561(1)
Angstrom).
