By the use of a solid electrolyte: Ca-beta ''-alumina, conducting Ca2 ions, the CaO activities in {xCaO + (1-x)ZrO2} at the temperature 127
0 K have been determined. The cubic solid solutions CaO in ZrO2 formed
in this mixture in the composition range x = 0.11 to 0.16 exhibit neg
ative deviations from Raoult's law. They were found to behave as regul
ar solutions. (C) 1995 Academic Press Limited
