F. Bakhtar et al., ON THE PERFORMANCE OF A CASCADE OF TURBINE ROTOR TIP SECTION BLADING IN NUCLEATING STEAM .2. WAKE TRAVERSES, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Part C, Journal of mechanical engineering science, 209(3), 1995, pp. 169-177
During the course of expansion of steam in turbines the fluid first su
percools and then nucleates to become a two-phase mixture. To reproduc
e turbine two-phase flow conditions requires a supply of supercooled v
apour which can be achieved under blow-down conditions by the equipmen
t employed. This paper is the second of a set describing an investigat
ion into the performance of a cascade of rotor tip section profiles in
nucleating steam and presents the results of the wake traverses and d
roplet measurements.
