F. Erdogan et C. Tezcan, THE MILNE PROBLEM FOR EXTREMELY ANISOTROPIC SCATTERING WITH THE P-L METHOD, Journal of quantitative spectroscopy & radiative transfer, 53(6), 1995, pp. 681-686
The extremely anisotropic scattering kernel is used to determine the n
eutron distribution everywhere in a source free half space with zero i
ncident flux. Neutrons are diffusing from a source at x = +infinity. T
he left-hand side of the half space is a vacuum. The solution of the n
eutron transport equation for the angular distribution is obtained by
using the well known P-L method. First the moment equations for the mo
ment solutions for anisotropic scattering are transformed into the equ
ations written for isotropic scattering and then they are transformed
back to obtain the solution of the neutron transport equation. The num
erical results obtained for P-3, P-5, P-7, P-9 approximations are in g
eneral in agreement with the approximate values previously obtained by
using the method of elemantary solutions.
