J. Dedamborenea et al., ADSORPTION AND INHIBITIVE PROPERTIES OF 4 PRIMARY ALIPHATIC-AMINES ONMILD-STEEL IN 2M HYDROCHLORIC-ACID, Electrochimica acta, 42(3), 1997, pp. 455-459
Four n-alkyl amines (6, 8, 10 and 12 carbon atoms) were investigated a
s corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 2 M hydrochloric acid solutio
n using gravimetric and polarization techniques. The influences of tem
perature (278-308 K) and inhibitor concentration (10(-1)-10(-6) M) wer
e studied. Protection efficiency improved when the inhibitor concentra
tion and the length of the alkyl chain were increased. The four amines
tested were adsorbed on the mild steel surface according to a Frumkin
isotherm. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
