Abstract
The model of anaerobic digestion described earlier by the authors was used for analysis of a pressure change as a method of avoiding a gas c omponent toxicity. The model, calibrated for laboratory-scale reactors , showed that an increase in pressure reduced ammonia inhibition durin g simulated cattle-manure digestion. A decrease in pressure reduced fr ee hydrogen sulfide inhibition during a sulfate overload of an anaerob ic digestion of a synthetic feedstock.
