B. Rogala et al., PLATELET-AGGREGATION IN IGE-MEDIATED ALLERGY WITH ELEVATED SOLUBLE FC(EPSILON)RII CD23 LEVEL/, Journal of investigational allergology & clinical immunology, 5(3), 1995, pp. 161-165
In 25 house dust mite-sensitive patients with perennial allergic rhini
tis, an analysis of platelet aggregation tests (dual-channel aggregome
ter, Chronolog Corp, 345 model) induced by adenosine diphosphate (ADP)
was carried out. The levels of total serum IgE specific antibodies ag
ainst Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and the soluble form of the low a
ffinity IgE receptor (sFc(epsilon)RII/sCD23) were estimated as well. T
he study was carried out in a dynamic state, before and after 2 years
of treatment with specific immunotherapy. We observed a significantly
diminished platelet aggregation response, which partially improved aft
er treatment. The results of this study suggest that platelet hyporesp
onsiveness might be involved in the pathogenesis of house dust mite hy
persensitivity.
