The multiphoton laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectrum of Li-6
vapor has been measured with a tunable, pulsed, nanosecond laser scan
ned between 13 600 and 14 500 cm(-1). Two- and three-photon allowed ex
citation transitions originating from the 2(2)S and 2(2)P levels were
observed, the latter likely originating from photodissociation product
s of Li-2. Laser polarization and power dependencies are consistent wi
th the multiphoton transition probabilities. Evidence for a parity ''f
orbidden'' multiphoton transition is also present.
