Fourier transform spectroscopic measurements of the absorption bands o
f the Herzberg I system (A(3) Sigma(u)(+)-X(3) Sigma(g)(-)) of O-2 hav
e been made in the wavelength region 240-270 nm. Rotational line posit
ions are determined with an accuracy of 0.005 cm(-1), and rotational t
erm values are presented for the vibrational levels, upsilon = 4-11. M
olecular constants of these levels are also presented. Interactions wi
th the c(1) Sigma(u)(-) state are observed at J = 13 of the upsilon =
4 level, at J = 16 of the upsilon = 7 level, and at J = 15 and 24 of t
he upsilon = 9 level of the A(3) Sigma(u)(+) state. Another interactio
n around J = 10 of the upsilon = 11 level might result from the weakly
bound (IIu)-I-3 state.
