Using a novel technique with polarization resolution the orientational
relaxation of anthracene is investigated in the electronic ground sta
te (solvents CCl4, C2Cl4, benzene-d and acetone-d). Time constants of
13-19 ps are measured and discussed in terms of hydrodynamic models.
