Ma. Samuel et al., LIMITS ON THE KAPPA-PARAMETER (KAPPA) OF THE W-BOSON AT THE COLLIDER DETECTOR AT FERMILAB (CDF), International journal of theoretical physics, 34(6), 1995, pp. 895-901
Recently we obtained bounds on the magnetic moment of the W boson from
preliminary results from the collider detector at Fermilab. These res
ults were based on 4.3 pb(-1) of data, from which three W gamma events
and three radiative W decays were found. Within the next 2 years they
expect to have almost 100 pb(-1) of data. In this paper we consider t
he bounds one will be able to obtain from these data, under two scenar
ios: (1) The expected Standard Model (SM) results are obtained. (2) Th
e relative number of events observed is the same as in the previous ru
n. We estimate that one will be able to obtain a 95% C.L. bound for ka
ppa, perhaps as good as -1.9 less than or equal to kappa less than or
equal to 4.2. These bounds would come from the total number of events.
When the number of events increases sufficiently, one will be able to
obtain an angular distribution for W gamma and an energy distribution
for radiative W decay. Then one could observe the radiation amplitude
zero and obtain a precise value for kappa.
