G. Nelson et al., CHANGES IN RATES OF HOSPITALIZATION AND COST SAVINGS FOR PSYCHIATRIC CONSUMERS PARTICIPATING IN A CASE-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, Psychosocial rehabilitation journal, 18(3), 1995, pp. 113-123
This research compared changes in rates of hospitalization for psychia
tric problems for a sample of consumers participating in a case manage
ment program. The average number of days hospitalized was dramatically
reduced during participation in the program, compared with a six-year
baseline period. Also, cost analysis showed that significant cost sav
ings occurred as a result of participation in the program. The results
of this research were compared with those of previous research, and s
uggestions for future research were made.
