Abstract
This paper presents estimations of both re-aeration rate coefficient K (1)a and oxygen uptake rate (OUR) obtained from a well mixed simulated aerated sludge reactor in a pilot plant. Estimates of OUR, which is a significant indicator of the biological activity in the reactor, and K(1)a were obtained while controlling the concentration of dissolved o xygen in the reactor. The control and parameter estimation algorithms were developed using a commercially available process control package. Estimates for both OUR and K(1)a are reliable and do not degrade with time.
