We report our experience in the management of two cases of hepatic cys
t infection both in women with autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney di
sease on hemodialysis. Ultrasonography has proved to be efficacious an
d safe, not only in the diagnosis but also in the treatment, which mus
t include guided punture-aspiration, as antibiotic treatment alone, th
ough appropriate, did not cure the infection in either case. The infec
tious complications of hepatic cysts, though exceptional, must be ketp
in mind because of the therapeutic implications of the diagnosis and
because they can be mistaken with renal cyst infection.
