Using different calorimeters, the following measurements have been car
ried out: (i) the determination of the integral enthalpy of mixing of
binary liquid Mg-Ni and ternary liquid Cu-Mg-Ni alloys; (ii) the deter
mination of the heat capacity of the intermetallic compounds CuMg2, Cu
2Mg, Mg2Ni and MgNi2; (iii) the determination of the enthalpy of fusio
n of the intermetallic compounds CuMg2 and Cu2Mg. An association model
is used to calculate the thermodynamic functions of mixing of liquid
Cu-Mg and Mg-Ni alloys and the phase equilibria of the Mg-Ni system. T
he thermodynamic functions of the liquid Cu-Mg-Ni alloys are calculate
d using the model parameters of the base binary systems.
