H. Frerking et al., CLINICAL-EXPERIENCES IN THE USE OF PARAMU NIDUCERS IN CATTLE DURING ANIMAL EXHIBITIONS, DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 102(5), 1995, pp. 188-189
[BR positive cattle after vaccination with dead vaccine may excrete IB
R/IPV (BHV-1) virus when facing a stress situation. On cattle exhibiti
ons the share of such individuals may vary between 8 and 34 %. Since 1
988 in order to protect animals against infections IBR negative cattle
and cows on 7 regional, one national and one international exhibition
s were treated with Duphamun(R) and Baypamun(R), respectively. After r
eturning of animals to their owner [BR outbreaks were confirmed in 8 f
oms. This is low incidence compared with preeding exhibitions that whe
re held in the same place or elsewhere. For protection against BHV-1 v
irus infections the use of a para-immunity-inducer is recommended. Nev
ertheless strict quarantine and following serological investigations a
re essential.
