Abstract
An adult Nubian goat with clinical signs of caprine arthritis encephal itis virus (CAEV) with a positive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (E LISA) for CAEV, and a second adult Nubian goat also with a positive EL ISA, shared a 2000 m(2) enclosure with three Angora goats and 13 Pygmy goats. After 1 year all goats were tested by ELISA. None of the Angor a or Pygmy goats tested positive for CAEV. Horizontal transmission of CAEV to non-dairy breed goats did not occur during 1 year of close coh abitation.
