COMPLEX-FORMATION OF PALLADIUM(II) WITH GERMANIUM(II) IN AQUEOUS HYDROBROMIC ACID-SOLUTIONS

The positions of the Ge(II)-to-Pd(II) charge-transfer bands (CTB) in t he UV spectra of Pd-Ge complexes in. 6 M HBr solutions have been deter mined. The bands were used to identify the Pd-GeBr3 bond. A relative e stimate of the electronic properties of germanium(II) and tin(II) brom ide ligands was made by comparing the CTB positions anal the shifts of the nu(Ge-Br) vibration frequencies in the IR spectra of Pd-Ge comple xes with parameters similar to those of Pd-Sn compounds.
