Abstract
The application of 50-MPa pressure did not increase the thermostabilit ies of adenylate kinases purified from four related mesophilic and the rmophilic marine methanogens. Thus, while it has been reported that so me thermophilic enzymes are stabilized by pressure (D. J. Hei and D. S . Clark, Appl. Environ. Microbiol. 60:932-939, 1994), hyperbaric stabi lization is not an intrinsic property of all enzymes from deep-sea the rmophiles.
