Al. Margolin et Ta. Nikolskaya, SUPPRESSION OF BIOLUMINESCENCE OF HUMAN-L EUKOCYTES IN-VITRO UNDER SENSITIZED PHOTOLYSIS, Biofizika, 40(3), 1995, pp. 556-560
Luminol dependent bioluminescence of polymorphonuclear neutrophil leuk
ocytes (PMNL) in vitro has been shown to cease completely during a few
minutes after the dye sensitized cell photolysis under the same condi
tions Of irradiation (the photosensitizer and its concentration, the i
ntensity and spectral distribution of incident light, irradiation time
and temperature) as used in the photodynamic therapy. of cancer (PDT)
. Usually a violation. of carcinoma and normal cells due to PDT is det
ected after 20-24 hours. So the effect of complete suppression of biol
uminescence is the earliest detectable manifestation of cell damage by
light. Bioluminescence of cells is repaired by the addition of Mg2+ i
ons to the human leukocyte suspension irradiated. The data obtained on
bioluminescence of leukocytes and the effect of Mg2+ ions exhibit the
violation of enzyme system under the sensitized cell photolysis.
