Changes of parameter a of rat blood lymphocytes under continuous gamma
-irradiation at the dose rate 14.4 cGy/day have been investigated by f
luorescence microspectral analysis. Parameter alpha reflects the cell
synthetic activity and represents the ratio of intensities of the red
(640 nm) and green (530 nm) components the fluorescence spectrum of ac
ridine orange fluorochromed cells. It has been demonstrated that chang
es of alpha-parameter occurs in two stages: 1)- the sharp increase wit
h the maximum at 3th-7th day (accumulated dose 0.5-1.0 Gy), 2) fluctua
tion near the control level with secondary increase of alpha-parameter
at 45th-63th day (accumulated dose 6-9 Gy). At each stage there exist
typical specific shapes of parameter alpha distribution histogram. It
is discussed that continuos gamma-irradiation induced both adaptive r
eaction of organism on the first stage and damaging effect on immune s
ystem cells on the second stage.
