Abstract
Cinnamoyl isothiocyanate (1) was utilized in the synthesis of a number of pyrimidines by the reaction with enaminone 2, aniline or cyano(thi o)acetamide. Also 1 reacted with ethylcyanoacetate to give an intermed iate which was then condensed with guanidine, aniline, and/or hydrazin e hydrate.
