Abstract
The phase and amplitude dynamics of a single-mode laser showing type-I II intermittent pulsing are investigated experimentally. It is found t hat the subharmonic content of the intensity dynamics results from an asymmetrisation of the field attractor. Through a proper choice of the frequency reference for the field, it is found there is a clear corre spondence between intensity- and phase dynamics.
